On 25 June, we presented a new working paper on the Standardization Participation Database at the Workshop on “The Political Economy of Latecoming in the Digital Era” at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. TECHtonics currently compiles existing and new data on country participation in global technical standard-setting. Based on a first analysis that includes a new dataset on 3GPP leadership, the working paper shows how participation data can facilitate the formulation of empirical research problems and point to opportunities for learning from rising standards powers.
